Pilates

Clinical Pilates is a proven treatment used for both rehabilitation and prevention of injuries. With today’s lifestyle tending towards increased sitting time, lower back pain and back related injuries are on the rise. Clinical Pilates can be beneficial for a range of problems, including:

  • Low back and neck pain
  • Whiplash
  • Hip and groin pain
  • Post orthopaedic surgery
  • Shoulder pain
  • Falls prevention/balance training
  • General health improvement.

Used for developing strength, flexibility, good posture and core stability, our Clinical Pilates involves moving through a slow, sustained series of exercises focusing on abdominal control and correct breathing techniques.

If you are just getting started, your initial consultation will be a one-on-one session to assess you and establish any relevant medical or injury history. You can then continue with individual sessions or join a small group class. Our classes cater for people of any fitness level, from beginner through to advanced. We also specialise in helping people stay fit while recovering from injury and adapt our exercises as necessary.

Mat Pilates involves performing exercises on the floor to condition the deeper, supporting core muscles. We use foam rollers, gym balls, weights and resistance bands in our sessions.

Mat Pilates can be enjoyed either one-on-one or in a small group session. One-on-one sessions will be tailored specifically to your needs, at a time that best suits you. Small group classes are run at various times during the week.

One-on-one Reformer Pilates is also offered at PhysioFit, incorporating resistance training into sessions to build muscle strength and flexibility.

All of our physiotherapists have completed post-graduate training in Clinical Pilates and look forward to helping you build your core strength and set you on a path to reach your health and lifestyle goals.
